It's been a long time comin!

So I finally acquired a driver's license today. I just thought everyone in the cyber world would like to know that. =) Finally at 18 I get it but I never really needed it until now. I'm super excited and scared but this is gonna be a new adventure that I'm gonna enjoy. =D

College?

So this is the personal statement thing I had to write for my application to the U of A. It's just to let them know more about the student than just their academics I guess.

I was born with a birth defect. I’m missing many parts from my right leg. For instance, the fibula which is one of the two major bones in the lower half of the leg, the ankle, the anterior cruciate ligament, two of my toes, and many more that I probably don’t even know about. Because of this disability I’ve spent a good chunk of my seventeen years in the doctor’s office or the hospital. The doctor that saved my leg when I was just a baby is still my orthopedic doctor today and I’ve always wanted to become a nurse so that I could work with him and repay him in a way for all that he has done for me. I’ve acquired a bit of medical knowledge after being around it my entire life, and it has helped me a great deal so far. Having to deal with this infirmity has been a challenge for me but has only humbled me and made me a tougher and stronger woman. I think I’m very compassionate towards those in pain because I’ve been in that position many times. My mother says that my first word was “hurting”; I had said it when I had gone into the doctor’s office and saw all the patients that were waiting. I understood their pain and I somehow understood that they were going through what I was going through. My mom has been one of my biggest supporters and influences throughout my life. You’d think that having ten children would make it hard for her to attend to me as much as she did. Lucky for me I’m the baby of the family so she didn’t have as many kids to take care of when I came along with all of my problems. To be able to take care of other people like my mother took care of me will be so rewarding for me and those I serve.
